The ‘Vihaan’ (means ‘DAWN’) project developed by Alliance India is based on the guidance provided by NACO for the care and support component of a well synchronized treatment, intervention; where treatment is managed by civil society interventions.

CSC–Vihaan are friendly places where PLHIVs receive information on care and support, access to a arrange of health referrals, education and linkages to social welfare schemes and entitlements.

Care Support Centre established under this programme supports PLHIV, including underserved populations, who have had difficulty accessing treatment, including women, children and High Risk Groups (HRGs-FSWs, MSM, TGs, Hijras and male & female IDUs)

In Pondicherry, the only CSC allotted is given to Puthuvai Cluny Social Service Trust from June 2013 in the premises of Shanthi Bhavan, Chinna Kalapet, as per the requirement of the project, the CSC office has been shifted to a rented building in Muthialpet, for easy accessibility of the PLHIVs.

The specific objectives of Vihaan include:

⦁ Early linkages of PLHIV to Care, Support and treatment services
⦁ Improved treatment adherence and education for PLHIV
⦁ Expanded positive prevention activities
⦁ Improved social protection and wellbeing of PLHIVs
⦁ Strengthened community systems and reduced stigma and discrimination
